Life As An Aesthetician
Lets talk about one of my favorite things, skincare. My purpose as an aesthetician is for everyone to feel comfortable in their glowing skin. I have built a business on trusting relationships with my clients, both women and men, and help them achieve their skincare dreams at any age.
Starting Out Young
From an early age, I’ve always been fascinated with beauty products. From skincare to makeup, from hair products to nail polish, I’ve loved and continue to love all that the beauty industry has to offer. I remember watching my mother stand at the bathroom sink with her makeup bag and carefully apply her makeup while her hair was set in hot rollers. I was in awe. She always kept one eye closed while brushing on her mascara and I follow the same technique to this day. She had (and still has) beautiful skin and I knew I wanted that too when I grew up. So, I did.
A Passion for Education
When people compliment me on my skin, I jokingly say “Thank you, it’s the Botox and the gin”. But the truth is my 23+ years as an aesthetician is from years of extensive training and education. I have learned that whatever your skincare goals are, they can be achieved by using quality skincare products and receiving regular facial treatments. And yes, I do get Botox. Medical/ pharmaceutical grade skincare products have a higher potency of important ingredients needed to reach your skincare goals. These essential ingredients include Vitamin C, Vitamin E, Vitamin A, Hyaluronic Acid, Peptides, Ceramides, and other exfoliants. Many over -the- counter products have a high alkalinity content and can strip the skin of its natural barrier. That’s not to say there are no good OTC options, but you do get what you pay for. A higher quality skincare product means higher potency while using a lesser amount. In the end, you’re saving more, using less, and have gorgeous skin. Here a some of my favorite skincare lines and where to buy them: IS Clinical by Innovative Skincare. www.isclinical.com. Dr. Dennis Gross MD Skincare sold at Cerulean Spa at Mystic Marriott. SkinCeuticals Skincare. www.skinceuticals.com. And anything from Korea.
Don’t Forget the Sunscreen!
Yes, I always sign off reminding my loyal readers to wear your sunscreen. It truly is the most important step in your skincare routine, and yet the most forgotten. Protecting your skin from harmful UVA and UVB rays can prevent skin cancer, premature aging, and wrinkles. All quality skincare brands offer SPF.
Look Good, Feel Good
In addition to using great skincare products, a visit to a reputable aesthetician for a facial treatment is always a good idea. An hour session will have you transformed both aesthetically and mentally. The rule of thumb is to get a facial every season, but if you can make it happen, a monthly commitment is even better.
Cheers to you and your glowing skin journey.
